I did extensive research and came to he conclusion he is the best and the world. If you don't believe me then please spend a good 6 months investigating and if you go elsewhere then good luck! He spent 17 hours on my surgery and did ALL of the graft work. Yes he has a team of technicians to assist him (HT's are not a one man job). His overall manner and enthusiasm are first class and the results will astonish you. The only downside is he is booked out for months in advance so be prepared to wait a long time for surgery or consultation. It is well worth it. He is contactable via email and answers questions usually within 24 hours. By the way, I travelled 6,000 miles for my HT.

A Brief Overview of What to Expect

According to an article released by Harvard Health Publishing, one-third of all women will experience alopecia (hair loss) at some point in their lifetime. Because female baldness is considered less socially acceptable than it is in men, the condition can bring about strong feelings of self-consciousness

Our medical team in Chicago is proud to offer surgical solutions, which typically generate more reliable, permanent results than over-the-counter treatments like minoxidil (or Rogaine®). During our transplant procedures, we will take healthy hair follicles from another area of your scalp that is not affected by baldness and carefully transplant the hair follicles into the areas of concern. To ensure that your procedure is comfortable and carefully performed, treatments are typically performed over several sessions

Many female hair loss patterns can be classified using the Ludwig classification system. The Ludwig system divides progressive female hair loss into three stages.

The various causes of female hair loss are discussed by Dr. Sahar Nadimi. She strives to understand each patient's concerns and goals so she can recommend the best treatment. Her extensive knowledge and training allow her and Dr. Konior to help women regain one of their most noticeable features so they can feel beautiful again.

Conditions We Can Treat with Surgery

Those who have stable or localized hair recession generally make excellent candidates for surgical hair restoration at the Chicago Hair Institute. This is because they typically have excellent donor hair reserves that are capable of achieving a full restoration in the affected area. This category includes those with:

Surgery vs. Over-the-Counter Treatment

One of the most popular and widely used treatments for hair loss is minoxidil (also marketed as Rogaine). Minoxidil can often slow the effects of alopecia, but it typically does not restore hair that has already been lost. Therefore, it is not an effective treatment option if you have already lost hair or have scarring. For the right candidate, surgery will typically be the surest way to cover bald spots across the scalp.

However, Some Women May Not Be Good Candidates for Surgery

Candidates with diffuse or progressive hair loss patterns are considered risky candidates for surgery. Unlike male pattern baldness, which has a well-recognized genetic basis, diffuse female hair loss is much more complicated and can have many causes. Although some in this category make reasonable surgical candidates, the majority of those with a diffuse hair loss pattern cannot benefit from surgical intervention. Unfortunately, diffuse patterns often extend into the donor region and deplete the very reserves that are needed for restoration. Therefore, proper diagnosis and careful patient selection are mandatory for women with diffuse loss in order to prevent unwarranted surgery and maximize the benefits of non-surgical therapy.

Prior to considering hair transplantation for a female patient, it is necessary to identify the cause of the hair loss. Hair loss arising from many medical conditions can typically be corrected without surgery.

We will begin by evaluating the cause of your hair loss at our Chicago office with a scalp biopsy or blood tests. In some cases, medical management such as prescription medication can treat the disorder, stop hair loss, and possibly restore some of the lost hair.

Want to Find out If You Are a Candidate? Schedule a Virtual Consultation

The best way to determine whether hair restoration surgery is right for you is to schedule a virtual consultation. Simply take these steps:

  • Take photos of your head and scalp from various angles including the back of your head, which will act as the donor region.
  • If you have a high forehead, use a marker to draw your ideal hairline and take a photo of your desired results.
  • Send Dr. Konior a message that includes details about your hair growth goals, previous surgery, and use of any therapies such as minoxidil.

Our team will respond to your message as soon as possible. To learn more, request your consultation online or call the Chicago Hair Institute at:

I'm worried about discomfort. Is the procedure painful?

Your Comfort Is Our Top Priority

Before we begin each procedure, we will apply a gentle local anesthetic to your scalp to ensure that you do not feel any discomfort during treatment. While some patients experience some discomfort or tightness while healing from surgery, these side effects can typically be relieved with over-the-counter medication

Our Unique Approach Ensures Beautiful Results

As a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Konior is familiar with the intricate patterns in which hair grows from the scalp. He combines a keen eye for detail with a specialized skillset to carefully place each hair follicle in a position where it will look natural and provide effective coverage. Every staff member at the Chicago Hair Institute has an in-depth understanding of how females' appearances should look in comparison to men's, which allows us to produce incredibly natural-looking results.
