Introduction to Dr. Konior's Techniques

Ethics

IMG_0701.JPGEthics play a major role in Dr. Konior's approach toward hair restoration surgery.  He is well-known for personally placing grafts and for not leaving the patient until his or her hair transplant is completed.  The doctor does not perform surgery on everyone.  He is very selective in those that he takes into his surgical program and screens for candidacy.  Dr. Konior personally performs an extensive consultation process for each patient so that he can determine individual goals and provide a customized hair restoration plan.  In the hair transplant industry, where it is common for surgeons to have little actual involvement in the patient's surgery, Dr. Konior's ethics and resultant quality stand out.

Staff Oversight and Training

Surgical hair restoration requires a carefully managed team and thorough quality control.  Each staff member has been individually selected and trained by Dr. Konior and has his or her work monitored during hair transplantation.  The doctor maintains ongoing education and training programs to assure the highest level of skill and competency in his team.  His dedicated staff has been specially trained to prepare the grafts using state-of-the-art microscopes for dissecting hair follicles extracted using the strip method (FUT) or follicular unit extraction (FUE). Dr. Konior makes micro-incisions with custom-cut blades which enable him to dense pack hair and safely place hair follicles between existing hairs.  Tiny incisions create less scalp trauma and enable his patients to achieve greater hair density in a single hair restoration session.  By carefully controlling the angle, direction and depth of these incisions he can create a natural pattern and direction for the new hair.  The results of his efforts are borne out by photographs that show the soft appearance of the frontal hairline and the recreated swirl patterns in the crown.

Understanding Each Patient's Goals and Expectations

Dr. Konior prioritizes achieving individual goals and expectations for each hair restoration surgery patient. He and his staff are committed to offering individual attention, technology, and artistry to every patient treated by him.  An initial exercise required of all new patients is a self-classification using the chart below.

The amount of hair loss that a patient perceives may be quite different from that observed by others.  It is with this initial understanding of the patient's point of reference that Dr. Konior begins the process of determining a surgical plan that will meet that patient's needs.  In the end, realistic expectations are formed and a meeting of the minds occurs between doctor and patient.

Dr. Konior has been treating hair loss and performing hair transplantation in the Chicago metropolitan area for well over 20 years.  He has learned that selecting patients who will truly benefit from hair transplantation is a fundamental key to creating happy patients.  The doctor's goal is to have the patient return after one year and express his or her contentment.  He has also learned that recognizing patient expectations and working with the patient to understand the possibilities and the limitations of hair restoration surgery similarly helps produce patient satisfaction.
