The Forehead Reduction Procedure
Let's walk you through the surgical process.
Forehead reduction surgery can often be completed in 90 minutes to two hours.
Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation, Dr. Nadimi will examine your hairline and discuss your aesthetic goals. She will use her expertise as a plastic surgeon and hair restoration specialist to determine your candidacy and whether combining procedures is right for you.
Administering Anesthetic
Local anesthesia and sedation are administered to eliminate any pain and anxiety during the hairline lowering procedure.
Surgical Hairline Adjustment
An incision is made along the edge of the high hairline. Excess forehead skin is carefully separated from connective tissue and is then removed.
Completing the Surgery
Sutures are used to close the incisions and alter the height of the brow. Dr. Nadimi ensures that surgical incisions remain concealed by the patient's hair as they heal from surgery. Most patients receive a lighter dressing to wear the day after the procedure, and the stitches are removed within a week.
Recovering From Forehead Reduction Surgery Healing and Aftercare
Forehead reduction recovery is relatively quick. In general, most patients can return to work in about seven days after their hairline lowering surgery. Dr. Nadimi will discuss post-op surgical instructions in more detail during your consultation.
Returning Home
Most forehead reduction patients can return home a few hours after the surgery is completed.
Common Side Effects
Bruising, swelling, and discomfort of the forehead and scalp are common after surgery. Patients should take pain medication as instructed, get ample rest, and keep the incision sites clean.
Activities to Avoid
Patients should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous physical activities until advised otherwise. This allows the brow to heal and helps prevent surgical complications.
