As new hair begins to push through, the follicles can become inflamed. Think of it as an acne-like reaction happening directly at the transplant sites. Mild cases resolve on their own. But the Mayo Clinic is clear that when folliculitis goes unmanaged, it can cause scarring and permanent follicle loss. Bleeding That Won't Quit
Some light weeping from the donor and recipient areas in the first 48 hours is completely expected. Bleeding that persists beyond that window, or that restarts days later, is your body telling you something needs attention. That's a phone call to your surgeon. Lost Grafts
Freshly placed grafts have not yet formed the blood supply that will anchor them permanently. In the first two weeks, something as ordinary as sleeping wrong, catching a towel on your scalp, or a seat belt rubbing the wrong way can pull a graft loose. Once it's gone, it's gone, and that follicle doesn't come back. This is the part of recovery where having someone you can call to actually see you makes a measurable difference in your outcome.
None of these scenarios is catastrophic if you're being monitored by a surgeon who performed your procedure, can examine you in the office, and can intervene quickly. But if your surgeon is operating a clinic in Istanbul and your follow-up consists of a WhatsApp message, that's a very different situation.
You'll likely end up at an urgent care center or a local dermatologist's office. That means you'll be dealing with someone with no knowledge of your procedure, no access to your records, and no stake in your outcome. That visit has a cost, too, by the way.

If the Results Disappoint
Let's Say You Heal Beautifully, But the Results Still Aren't What You Expected
Complications aside, let's play out the best-case medical scenario: you heal cleanly, no infections, no folliculitis, nothing eventful. You wait the 9 to 12 months it takes to see final results, and then… you don't love what you see. The density is off. The hairline looks unnatural. The coverage isn't what was discussed.
