Hairline lowering surgery, also known as forehead reduction, is a very unique surgery that's designed to reduce the size of the forehead. A large forehead can be a significant source of self-consciousness, and traditionally this has been corrected with hair grafts, which is also an excellent option, but may require one to two years for full growth of the grafts. Hairline lowering surgery is an efficient and effective method of reducing the hairline and takes about one and a half to two hours to perform. Ideal candidates for hairline lowering surgery is typically a female with no personal or family history of hair loss, who has a high hairline. Patients who are not candidates for hairline lowering surgery are those with the history of hairline recession. The reason why is because the incision is designed to be within the first few rows of the hairs, and as the hairs grow, they grow through the scar. The scar can become evident in people who have hairline recession.
